Encryption Exploitation Technologies Research Paper
Encryption Exploitation Technologies - Research Paper Example It is in this regard that organizations have come up with security policies which define how data should be secured for confidentiality, authenticity, privacy, integrity, access control and nonrepudiation (Knott & Steube, 2011). The process of encryption employs different methods with a view of ensuring that information in its original and natural format is altered or converted into formats which cannot be read by systems attackers. Hence encryption is basically viewed at ascertaining that it is only the intended receivers who are able to read the message. This research paper gives a critical discussion of the nature and approaches of execution of the common methods that are used in the exploitation of encryption technologies. Symmetric Encryption Symmetric encryption is one of the major methods that are used in computer security in the exploitation of encryption technologies. In symmetric encryption, both the receiver and the sender of data or information have the same key or encryp tion key (Ackerman, 2008). In this regard, symmetric encryption is also known as shared secret encryption or shared key encryption (Lian, Liu, Ren & Wang, 2007). The encryption key in symmetric encryption method is applied both when encrypting and decrypting data. The security behind symmetric encryption lies in the fact that it is only the individuals with the same key who are able access and read data, information or messages which have been encrypted by the use of the symmetric key (Knott & Steube, 2011). Symmetric encryption has existed as the oldest methods on utilizing encryption technologies. It is essentially used for secure transmission of data. As a result, data that has been transmitted through the symmetric encryption is said to be confidential (Bhargava, Shi & Wang, 2007). In this sense confidentiality means that the understanding of meaning which is carried within the data can only be achieved by systems or individuals that share the same key. In this regard, it is evi dent that symmetric encryption is aimed at preventing unauthorized entities from understanding data rather than preventing them from accessing it (Dent, 2008). Therefore even if attackers access data, they are not able to understand its meaning since it is encrypted (Ackerman, 2008). Figure 1: Symmetric Encryption (PacketLife.net, 2010) It is important to note that encrypted data remains to be data. What changes is the inability for unauthorized entities to have and understanding or acquires the meaning that is contained therein (Moore, 2007). Due to encryption, the purpose of messages serves only the intended recipients (Al-Riyami, Malone-Lee & Smart, 2009). Symmetric encryption makes use of various algorithms. An encryption algorithm the word used to describe the mathematical formula which is employed in both the encryption and decryption of data files during the process of electronic data transfer or communication (Toubba, 2008). It is therefore the function of the encryption alg orithm to convert electronic formats of data into formats that are difficult to understand by the unintended audience. Since the intended receivers have the same key as the sender, symmetric methods in encryption allows them to read and comprehend the encrypted data. This is made possible by the use of the key and the symmetric algorithm to

Defining Good Advice :: Defintion Essays
Defining Good Advice Good advice started out as something that I could grasp. It was something I was able to understand. But that all changed. What is it exactly that constitutes good advice? When we started this discussion a couple weeks ago, I knew what good advice was, or at least I thought I did. Good advice was something that came from the mouth of someone I respected and looked up to. It came from my parents, grandparents, and Davey, the man I wrote about in my narrative. Good advice usually lead to something good, but sometimes bad things were the result of that good advice. Consider the situation of me telling on my best friend for drinking. Davey told me, ââ¬Å"stick to your guns, Perp.â⬠And I did. I told on my best friend. ââ¬Å"Everybody turned their heads when I walked by in school.â⬠That couldnââ¬â¢t have been ââ¬Å"good adviceâ⬠. So if good advice can lead to bad things, then how can it be considered good advice? Well, I have tried to look at it in a simple way, but it just got more and more complex. Maybe it can be related to Douglas Craneââ¬â¢s comment about example C on contractions. ââ¬Å"This part I would love to toss out and never consider, but itââ¬â¢s impossible to deny the information given.â⬠And, as I said in our discussion on contractions, ââ¬Å"I have no need for example C because it is way too much information for me right now. But who knows, maybe later I might need that much info, but as for now I donââ¬â¢t.â⬠Was I really ready for his advice? Looking back, I donââ¬â¢t think I was, being sixteen and all. And that is what made his good advice so hard to understand. My mind could not comprehend the ââ¬Å"big pictureâ⬠. But Daveyââ¬â¢s mind could. He had already been sixteen. He absolutely knew that it would help me in the future. I am now twenty years old and a little more wiser, which made me come to the conclusion that Davey was right, because even though his advice ended up hurting me, I am a stronger person now because of it. I still use his advice today, even with the negative consequences involved. Some people have told me I am stubborn. I just tell them that I am ââ¬Å"sticking to my gunsâ⬠. Advice can be given in any manner, but that doesnââ¬â¢t make it good or bad advice.

Authority And Judgement Of Police Discretion - 1892 Words
Bhote 1 Tenzing Bhote Professor Shawn Hill AJ 101 16 April, 2016 Power of Law ââ¬Å"Discretion has the meaning of acting on one s own authority and judgement. In law, discretion as to legal rulings, such as whether evidence is excluded at a trial, may be exercised by a judge. Some view discretion negatively, while some view it positively. Discretion is at all levels of law enforcement.â⬠Discretion is a ubiquitous and legitimate aspect of modern policing, though itââ¬â¢s scope and limits are poorly understood. Around late 1950ââ¬â¢S during the end of professional era was the time when police discretion started playing a big roll and by the American Bar Foundation it was classified as organization that would make criminal justice system better by conducting research, studies, and investigations. Along with it came the negative and the positive side of police discretion. I personally believe the best way of discretion is following good morals and making good choices. Discretion is witnessed everywhere, especially in the law enforcement career by the police officers. The general public has a specific expectation that the police officers have to enforce the law system and follow orders for which if something bad happens outside the norm, it is expected to arrest or detain an Bhote 2 individual. The truth is, police officers have to put their own personal judgement, morals, and values they endure based on the environment, other peopleââ¬â¢s perspective, and many other possible outcomes. Being Deaf The Constant Fear Of Hearing - 1739 Words
Imagine if you were deaf, the constant fear of not hearing again. Not being able to hear the simple sounds of the world we live in today. If you had a choice in losing your ability to hear, would you do it? If I were to lose my hearing, by choice, I know that I would take it. There are some down sides to losing the ability to hear but there are also some very good points to it as well. The process of hearing consist of the vibrations of sounds entering our ears and then being interpreted by our brainsââ¬â¢. The different interactions of my life would change but I would be able to connect to the world in a deeper more intimate level. Of course there are some downfalls like the sensation of loneliness even though Iââ¬â¢m surrounded by people, and the constant awareness and vigilance that I have to keep up in case of emergencies. Being deaf brings new challenges to a personââ¬â¢s life, especially if itââ¬â¢s by choice. However, I would be able to join a new community of peop le who are just like me and can relate on life experiences. Why I Chose Deafness I would chose to lose the ability to hear because itââ¬â¢s not really a disability; itââ¬â¢s a new way of communicating with others. I would still be able to socialize with the world and the people in it. Being deaf is another culture in itself filled with different people who are just as vibrant as those who can hear. Hans G. International Relations And Foreign Policy - 2376 Words

From domestic policy decisions of the Clean Air and Water Acts to the international ban on CFCââ¬â¢s, environmental policy has showed a degree of promise and precedence. Many critics of past and current mitigation efforts have pointed out that our current efforts are much too slow and International Protocols and not lived up to their projections. In order for climate policy to be successful it must appertain to three distinct criteria; It must be adopted broadly, have the ability to stay in place indefinitely, and it needs to have incentives to reduce emissions that make it beneficial for firms and the public sector to invest (McKibbin 2006, 9). According to some it will be motivation, n ot feasibility as to the deciding factor of whether or not we are successful in mitigating and adapting to climate change (Jamieson 2013, 466).
